There is also variation about saptharshies.

patron of marriages) and the Devas presiding over natural phenomena (e.g. Ushas,
whose name means "dawn", or Indra, Lord).

As the matter was of considerable gravity, Bhagirath prayed Parvati, Shivas
wife, for her help. Parvati convinced Shiva to receive the powerful torrents
unleashed by the tempestuous goddess on his head and divide the fall of the
waters into a myriad of streams through his hair. After which, it was relatively
easy to guide the river to the center of the earth, revive the 60,000 dead

DEVI? WHAT IS THE STORY?
A2 Yes. One night, while Bhima was standing guard over his sleeping family, a

sister Hidimbi to lure Bhima away, so Hidimba could kill and eat him,
considering Bhimas body size a feast of a meal.

When Hidimbi saw Bhima she felt an extreme desire for him. She changed her

Hidimbi pleaded to Kunti that due to her heart being given to Bhima out of
affection that she had already accepted him as her husband, even though he had
killed her brother, so now she wanted the blessings of Kunti that they could

Finally Bhima agreed to the arrangements, on the condition that Bhima will

Hidimbi explained that she would now return to her natural form, which was in
fact possessed of an aspect of Bharati Devi the consort of Mukhyaprana, and so
it was all right for her to feel this way towards Bhima.
To demonstrate her mystic powers of knowing the future Hidimbi mentioned to
Bhima that tomorrow Srila Vyasadeva, the literary incarnation of Lord Krishna
would come to this forest abode and would give her hand in marriage to her lord,
Bhimasena.
And as foretold by her, full of all auspicious qualities personified Srila
Vyasadeva appeared before them, and glancing at the Pandavas, Mother Kunti and
the beautiful consort to be of Bhimas, Vyasa glanced over them all with His
lotus eyes, and smiled with great affection. The Pandavas then worshipped their
Guru and rendered service to Him.
Hidimbi also offered her obeisances to Srila Vyasadeva; looking at her He
addressed Bhima, "...this girl is the crest jewel of Sidonga Loka... marry her".
After the exchange of garlands, to everyones surprise Hidimbi picked up Bhima,
placed him upon her shoulders and flew into the sky.
They then spent their time in amorous pursuit in the sky and on mountain tops,
and celestial gardens by the arrangement of Hidimbis mystic powers, and they
returned that evening, but due to being in the heavenly planets six months had
passed here on Earth.
In due course of time a child was born to them who was named Ghatokacha,
actually he was an aspect of Rudra, a celestial being named Niryati.
This child was quite unique the word ghata in his name refers to the size and
shape of his head, ghata means a pot, and otkata means on who has hair
standing on end, which he had.
Immediately he became full grown, and, staying with his mother in the forest
after the Pandavas departure, he told Bhima that if ever he needed him, all he
had to do was call his name, and he would come to that place.
When Bhima rejoined the other Pandavas, Hidimbi returned to the heavenly planet,

Friends
I have got the details of the QA from some Vaishnavite web site. Three things
are clear from it 1. Gothra principle was there during Thetha Yuga 2. No Gothra
change is there/ was there in the manthras even in Thretha Yuga. 3. Ahalaya
moksham was before the wedding.

Cephalopod eyes
I just wrote a big post about cephalopod eyes, and then realized that I had neglect to show any real-life pictures of cephalopod eyes. This blog seems to be getting a bit dry, so lets take some time off and just gaze at some of our beautiful, squishy friends. All images are from the wikimedia commons and have been under a creative commons license.
(Photo by Parent Géry) This guy is Octopus vulgaris, also known as the common octopus. It the most-studied octopod. You can see the slit-shaped pupil clearly.
(Photo by Theasereje) Heres a body shot of another O. vulgaris. Notice how they can look at you with both eyes at the same time - they have the capability for binocular vision. Octopuses, however, prefer monocular vision, and will always use just one eye to sight their prey during an attack (for more info, see this "Lateral asymmetry of eye use in Octopus vulgaris" by Byrne et al.)
(Photo by Elapied) Here we have another gorgeous shot of O. Vulgaris peering out of a hideout with one eye.
(Photo from www.opencage.info) This is an ocellated octopus, O. ocellatus. Besides being very cute, as he peeks out from the shell, he is probably using his mostly monocular vision to monitor his whole environment for danger.
(Photo by Jens Petersen) Here is Amphioctopus marginatus, the coconut octopus, showing us how it can focus both eyes on the same area of space, even if it usually doesnt like to.
By now, youre probably tired of octopuses. Let me give you a break then, and venture into the world of cuttlefish and squid!
(Photo by Bernd) This is Sepia prashadi, the hooded cuttlefish. Cuttlefish hunt by visually stalking their prey and then shooting out their tentacles to grab it. Thus, they need to have a binocular field of vision so that they can accurately catch prey. This little guys eyes are apparent on either side of his head (look for the curved, black pupil slits.) As you can see, cuttlefish can look in front of themselves with both eyes.
(Photo by Nick Hobgood) This is Sepia latimanus, the reef cuttlefish. Here you have a better view of the eye. The eyes are not closed - the pupil of cuttlefish is always a horizontal slit.
(Photo by Nick Hobgood) This is another S. latimanus, showing a different coloration.
(Photo by Nick Hobgood) This is Sepioteuthis lessoniana, the bigfin reef squid. Most squid normally have mostly monocular vision, but can move their eyes towards the front of their head to have temporary binocular vision.
Euprymna scolopes (Bobtail squid in orange form).(Photo by Nick Hobgood) This is Euprymna scolopes, the Hawaiin bobtail squid. In this photo, you can see the cuttlefish-like pupil shape and the existence of binocular overlap.
(Photo by Michael Vecchione) Ill leave you with the bizarre-looking eye of Helico pfefferi, the piglet squid. I dont know anything about them, but they sure look cool.
Thanks for reading!

SUNDAIKKAI (TURKEY BERRY) PACHADI... சுண்டைக்காய் பச்சடி..
Jason and the Argonauts Greek Mythology Legends
Aeson, king of Iolcus, was forced to fly from his dominions, which had been usurped by his younger brother, Pelias, and with difficulty succeeded in saving the life of his young son, Jason, who was at that time only ten years of age. He intrusted him to the care of the Centaur Chiron, by whom he was carefully trained in company with other noble youths, who, like himself, afterwards signalized themselves by their bravery and heroic exploits. For ten years Jason remained in the cave of the Centaur, by whom he was instructed in all useful and warlike arts. But as he approached manhood he became filled with an unconquerable desire to regain his paternal inheritance. He therefore took leave of his kind friend and preceptor, and set out for Iolcus to demand from his uncle Pelias the kingdom which he had so unjustly usurped.
In the course of his journey he came to a broad and foaming river, on the banks of which he perceived an old woman, who implored him to help her across. At first he hesitated, knowing that even alone he would find some difficulty in stemming the fierce torrent; but, pitying her forlorn condition, he raised her in his arms, and succeeded, with a great effort, in reaching the opposite shore. But as soon as her feet had touched the earth she became transformed into a beautiful woman, who, looking kindly at the bewildered youth, informed him that she was the goddess Hera, and that she would henceforth guide and protect him throughout his career. She then disappeared, and, full of hope and courage at this divine manifestation, Jason pursued his journey. He now perceived that in crossing the river he had lost one of his sandals, but as it could not be recovered he was obliged to proceed without it.
On his arrival at Iolcus he found his uncle in the market-place, offering up a public sacrifice to Poseidon. When the king had concluded his offering, his eye fell upon the distinguished stranger, whose manly beauty and heroic bearing had already attracted the attention of his people. Observing that one foot was unshod, he was reminded of an oracular prediction which foretold to him the loss of his kingdom by a man wearing only one sandal. He, however, disguised his fears, conversed kindly with the youth, and drew from him his name and errand. Then pretending to be highly pleased with his nephew, Pelias entertained him sumptuously for five days, during which time all was festivity and rejoicing. On the sixth, Jason appeared before his uncle, and with manly firmness demanded from him the throne and kingdom which were his by right. Pelias, dissembling his true feelings, smilingly consented to grant his request, provided that, in return, Jason would undertake an expedition for him, which his advanced age prevented him from accomplishing himself. He informed his nephew that the shade of Phryxus had appeared to him in his dreams, and entreated him to bring back from Colchis his mortal remains and the Golden Fleece; and added that if Jason succeeded in obtaining for him these sacred relics, throne, kingdom, and sceptre should be his.

indian spices
History of Spices:
The fame of Indian spices is older than the recorded history. It is believed that the Parthian wars were being fought by Rome largely to keep open the trade route to India. It is also said that Indian spices and her famed products were the main lure for crusades and expeditions to the East . The people of those times used spices, as we do today, to enhance or vary the flavors of their foods.
How to Build a Skiff Wood Boat Plans
How to Build a Skiff - Wood Boat Plans
The following is a description of an easily constructed 12-ft. skiff, suitable for rowing and paddling. This is the type used by many duck hunters, as it may be easily pushed through marshes. It is constructed of 3/4-in. dressed pine, or cypress.
The Skiff is Especially Constructed for Use in Shallow Water and Marshes by Duck Hunters, but with the Addition of a Keel It Makes a Good Craft for Almost Any Water as a Rowboat
The sides consist of planks, 14 in. wide, but 12-in. planks may be used, the length being 12 ft. 4 in. Two stem pieces are constructed as shown in Fig. 1, and the plank ends are fastened to them with screws. Nail a crosspiece on the plank edges in the exact center, so as to space the planks 34 in. apart, as shown in Fig. 2; then turn it over and nail another crosspiece in the center of the planks for width, and make the spacing of the other edges 40 in. Plane the lower edges so that, in placing a board across them, the surfaces will be level. The floor boards are 6 in. wide and fastened on crosswise, being careful to apply plenty of red lead between all joints and using galvanized nails, 2 in. long.
(Fig. 3)
A deck, 18 in. long, is fastened on each end, as shown in Fig. 3. It is made of strips fastened to a crosspiece. The seats, or thwarts, consist of 10-in. boards, and are placed on short strips fastened to the side planks about 5 in. from the bottom. The oarlocks are held in a wedge-shaped piece of wood, having a piece of gas pipe in them for a bushing, the whole being fastened at the upper edge of the side planks with screws, as shown in Fig. 4. The location of these must be determined by the builder.
(Fig. 4)
Some calking may be required between the bottom, or floor, boards, if they are not nailed tightly against one another. The calking material may be loosely woven cotton cord, which is well forced into the seams. The first coat of paint should be of red lead mixed with raw linseed oil, and when dry any color may be applied for the second coat.
While, for use in shallow water, these boats are not built with a keel, one can be attached to prevent the boat from "sliding off" in a side wind or when turning around. When one is attached, it should be 3/4 in. thick, 3 in. wide, and about 8 ft. long.

Pond Plankton
Mention the word ‘plankton’ and the drifting life in the surface layer of the oceans springs to mind – stuff that blue whales eat - but there’s plenty of plankton in the surface layer of lakes and ponds too. This picture (top) shows the larval stage – known as a nauplius – of a freshwater crustacean called a copepod (bottom photo), possibly Cyclops (that single red eye is a strong clue!). All those long bristles probably improve the nauplius larvas buoyancy, slowing the rate that it sinks and giving it extra leverage when it beats its limbs to stay in the surface layers. Copepod nauplius larvae go through a series of up to six moults before they become a recognisable Cyclops and this in turn goes through a further five moults before it reaches its final adult stage. The whole process takes the best part of a month, during which the nauplius and developing Cyclops are favourite food items on the menu of every passing predator; in this respect a nearly-mature tadpole is probably the blue whale of the pond. Life is hazardous when you’re small and edible!
Hecate Goddess Greek Mythology
Hecate would appear to have been originally a moon-goddess worshipped by the Thracians. She became confounded, and eventually identified with Selene and Persephone, and is one of those divinities of whom the ancients had various conflicting accounts.
Hecate was the daughter of Perses and "gold-wreathed" Astræa (the starry night), and her sway extended over earth, heaven, and hell, for which reason she is represented in works of art as a triple divinity, having three female bodies, all young and beautiful, and united together.
In later times, when this divinity becomes identified with Persephone, she is supposed to inhabit the lower world as a malignant deity, and henceforward it is the gloomy, awe-inspiring side of her character which alone develops itself. She now presides over all practices connected with witchcraft and enchantments, haunts sepulchres, and the point where two roads cross, and lonely spots where murders have been committed. She was supposed to be connected with the appearance of ghosts and spectres, to possess unlimited influence over the powers of the lower world, and to be able to lay to rest unearthly apparitions by her magic spells and incantations.
Hecate appears as a gigantic woman, bearing a torch and a sword. Her feet and hair are formed of snakes, and her passage is accompanied by voices of thunder, weird shrieks and yells, and the deep baying and howling of dogs.
Her favour was propitiated by offerings and sacrifices, principally consisting of black lambs. Her festivals were celebrated at night, by torchlight, when these animals were offered to her, accompanied by many peculiar ceremonies. These ceremonies were carried out with the minutest attention to details, as it was believed that the omission of the slightest particular would afford to her ministers, the evil spirits of the lower world, who hovered round the worshippers, an opportunity for entering among them, and exerting their baneful influence. At the end of every month food was placed wherever two roads met, in readiness for her and other malignant divinities.
In studying the peculiar characteristics which Hecate assumes when she usurps the place of Persephone, the rightful mistress of the lower world, we are reminded of the various superstitions with regard to spectres, witchcraft, &c., which have, even down to our own times, exerted so powerful an influence over the minds of the ignorant, and which would appear to owe their origin to a remote pagan source.
